Phil Frengs — our intrepid founder — heads out across America for the third time in the fight against Alzheimer’s. This year’s On the Road Again III: The National Tour for a Cure for Alzheimer’s began with a trip over the Rockies and will continue across the US. Phil’s tour will include stops at Porsche dealerships as well as auto races across the country. In step with our mission, he hopes to bring awareness to the disease and raise funds for Alzheimer’s research and family support.

The Porsche tribute car that Phil drives is covered with the names of our Racing to End Alzheimer’s “champions.” At $250 per name, these high-visibility graphics make a real difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s, a disease that affects over 6 million American families. The names printed on the car not only honor people who are either living with Alzheimer’s or who have passed on from the disease but also help fund Alzheimer’s research. All contributions go toward the efforts of our beneficiaries: the Nantz National Alzheimer Center at Houston Methodist and the UCLA Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Program. Plus, each donation is matched one-to-one by Phil’s company, Legistics, to amplify our impact.

Would you like to add the name of your loved one to our Porsche? Donate now. The names are also displayed on our race car: a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, which Phil affectionately refers to as a “200 mile-an-hour billboard.”

Our Tribute Car: Porsche 718 Spyder

Geared for drivers that hit the road instead of the race track, our tribute car, a Porsche 718 Spyder, stands out among Porsche models as a high-agility concept that sports car fans love. With the help of a whole range of supporters, we’ll continue to hold meet-and-greets at venues like Porsche dealerships and the Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles and Atlanta, so people can see the car and the names up close. Last year, Phil visited 31 cities and doubled the number of names on the car, which also made further strides in our fight against Alzheimer’s. We hope to do the same with our Porsche 718 Spyder this year and continue to bring attention to our mission and cause while on tour.

Phil has sponsored a sportscar racing team for more than a decade, both in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and the GT4 America series. The team has even won the season championship — not once, but twice.

How Our On the Road Again Alzheimer’s Tour Began

We are committed to funding the cure and the care of this disease, especially through Alzheimer’s research. Two years ago, when the Covid crisis caused a pause in the racing season, Phil and his team of advisors brainstormed – as an Alzheimer’s charity they had to do something to keep our mission going. They decided that, once it became safe, he’d embark on a coast-to-coast tour in a replica race car with its racing livery and all the names of those who were on the race car when the 2020 racing season kicked off at Daytona International Speedway. At minimum, in the face of a suspended racing season, those donors’ loved ones’ names would make the trip with Phil across the country.

On the Road Again: The Ultimate Tour for the Cure was launched in June of 2020 at Daytona International Speedway with the first two miles of the road trip driven at full speed on the world-renowned Daytona track. The 4,500-mile trip included stops in southern communities, southwestern cities and California, plus visits to other tracks on the IMSA circuit. It culminated with team driver Nick Galante doing laps at WeatherTech Raceway, Laguna Seca, in Monterey, California, bookending the trip on-track. On the Road Again also stopped at our two beneficiary hospitals and numerous dealers — and visited donors along the way.

Keep an eye out for Phil at a Porsche dealership near you, or join us at an upcoming race to see our Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS on the track.
