Racing to End Alzheimer's race car on the race track

For all of us here at Racing to End Alzheimer’s, the lull after a hard-fought season only serves to bring our core mission into clearer focus.

Though we revel in the chase for podium finishes, our collective success depends on so much more than winning on race day. Whether leading the pack or limping off the track (and we did both over the course of this roller-coaster year), our team stayed focused on the ultimate goal of winning the race against Alzheimer’s.

Building momentum

2021 may have presented its share of obstacles and uncertainties, but the Racing to End Alzheimer’s initiative continued to build momentum all season long. With more names than ever sponsored on our distinctive purple livery, and new ones rolling in each week, inspiration for the team was not hard to come by.

“It was great to see that people still were honoring their loved ones on our race car even during tough times across the country,” driver Nick Galante said. “The love was definitely felt, and it helped us stay positive and fight harder in their honor.”

Taking it on the road

While Nick and the BimmerWorld team hit the track, Racing to End Alzheimer’s founder Phil Frengs hit the interstate on behalf of the cause.

Over the course of the summer, Phil drove more than 9,000 miles in an attention-grabbing BMW M8 convertible tribute car with the same name-clad livery as the race car. Traveling solo, Phil crisscrossed the country – spreading awareness, raising funds, delivering donations, fostering goodwill and building community.

A season to remember

Both on and off the track, our organization strives to proudly honor those whose lives have been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. The widespread – and ever growing – support for Racing to End Alzheimer’s is a tangible illustration of how important this mission is to so many.

Thanks to everyone who took the (wild, inspiring, challenging, exhilarating) ride with us this season. See you back on the track in 2022!
